10 Most Absurdly Mismatched Gimmicks In WWE

9. Bray Wyatt Is Not A Monster Heel

On his debut, the Bray Wyatt gimmick was solid: a fresh, sinister take on the megalomaniacal cult leader. That was before he began exhibiting actual supernatural powers. As a solo act, Wyatt claims to be a demon in human form: a god or a devil, or both. Unfortunately the man under the beard, Windham Rotunda, simply isn’t large or intimidating enough to be a terrifying monster heel.

If he was booked to be some implacable, unstoppable fiend, that wouldn’t matter so much. Sadly, Bray Wyatt is constantly beaten, often cleanly, by ordinary men in ordinary ways, losing two out of three matches and coming off worst in every feud.

How many times has he threatened to destroy the body and soul of an opponent only to skulk off with his forked tail between his legs? He’s had his lunch money stolen by every major babyface on the roster. To make matters worse he’s gullible, far too easily conned by people claiming to join his crusade only to turn on him.

All of that works just fine for a demagogic villain like Kevin Sullivan, Raven, or James Mitchell - a menacing, charismatic but ultimately cowardly charlatan with some devoted muscle. But ranting loser Bray Wyatt is no demonic monster.
