John Bradshaw Layfield spent much of his WWE career emulating his idol, Stan Hansen, and his finishing move was one of the ways he did this. Hansen was known for swinging his clubbing Lariat with reckless intent, and the Clothesline From Hell was Bradshaw’s version. Never before had a clothesline looked so devastating in WWE, but as strongly as Bradshaw threw it, much of this was down to his victim.

Rikishi and The Rock were always known for the over-the-top way they’d take a clothesline, but as far as Bradshaw’s finisher goes, nothing tops Billy Gunn’s efforts. Gunn flipped all the way around on impact, spinning through the air in a way that defied his large frame (6’3”, 260lbs), before eventually hitting the canvas with an unceremonious thud.

Bradshaw used to turn Gunn inside out with his clotheslines, and the duo met on countless occasions throughout the Attitude Era. The 2000 Royal Rumble stands-out as the most spectacular example, but chances are if you fire-up any Acolytes vs. New Age Outlaws match, you’ll find something just as vicious. Full credit to the former Mr. Ass and his outrageous flipping ability.
