It’s often said that Roman Reigns’ finishing moves look weak, and that the Spear and Superman Punch aren’t befitting of a main event wrestler. With the right seller, however, these moves can look just as devastating as anything else on the roster, and criticism of Roman’s moveset often feels like an excuse for his many detractors to take a cheap shot.

Regardless, AJ Styles knows how to make the Superman Punch look absolutely devastating. He has kicked out of it before, but AJ has always been a master seller, and he and Reigns produced a couple of excellent matches last year. Styles’ most unique sell came during their WWE Championship bout at Payback, and much like Shawn Michaels’ Sweet Chin Music on Shelton Benjamin, it saw AJ blasted in midair.

Having seemingly neutralised Reigns on the outside, Styles rolled him back in and set-up for the Phenomenal Forearm. Roman recovered just as AJ sprung towards him, however, and in a perfectly timed shot, the former Shield member caught him with the Superman Punch. AJ went limper than a dead body on impact, selling the move like death, and making Roman look like a total badass.
