10 Pro Wrestling Moves That Need To Die
1. Bump & Feed Selling
Plenty of wrestling fans have lambasted John Cena and other performers of his ilk that recycle the same old move structures in every match. So I'm not going to do that.
Instead, I'm going to focus on the dummies that constantly feed into Cena and company's 5 Moves of Doom as if it's a brand new series of actions they've never seen before.
Let's pick on Cena's competitors for this example, since it's the most egregious pattern. Hey guys, after he does his second shoulder tackle, maybe don't wind up and throw a big haymaker his way. It never ends well. You know this, and yet it's like a pervasive tic that no wrestler - no matter how cerebral or experienced - can avoid.
What's the logic there? Does every new victim to this pattern think to themselves, "I know hundreds of other talented wrestlers have let these moves get the best of them, but surely I can be the one to break the chain!". Is everyone treating this like The Undertaker's WrestleMania streak? WHY IS THIS STILL HAPPENING??
It isn't as if it's as appalling in 2021, now that Cena has virtually retired, but WWE's bump-and-feed selling is a low-key issue in holding onto the 18-49 demo. It's something that anybody over the single-digits can see through.
