10 Real Meanings Behind WWE Superstar Tattoos

Brock Lesnar's sword tattoo isn't the only ink with a story behind it...

Wrestlers and tattoos have a... chequered history to say the least; for every CM Punk with his eye-catching, instantly recognisable ink that carries great personal significance to him, there is a Batista belly button sun, or a Matt Morgan, whose back tattoo looks like a knock-off version of Brock Lesnar's demon skull and is apparently a representation of Morgan in the ring?!

Whilst we all know that The Undertaker's 'BSK Pride' tat is an homage to the 'Bone Street Krew' (his backstage clique which included the likes of Rikishi, Savio Vega and Paul Bearer), and have come to find out that the massive sword on Brock Lesnar's chest might as well be a middle finger to Vince McMahon due to a legal dispute, there are many more superstars who have stories behind their symbols.

Why does Braun Strowman have a Superman logo on his arm? Which legendary character does Santino Marella share an affinity with? What terrifying encounter led to Big Show getting tatted?

Find out the answers to all these questions and more as we run through 10 real meanings behind WWE Superstar tattoos...

10. AJ Styles

A fairly obvious place to start, AJ Styles has one of the most striking tattoos in all of WWE; the letters 'AJ' written in huge font on his right torso complete with several dates underneath.

You may already have guessed that the dates relate to significant events in his life - in particular the birthdays of his four children - but what you may not know is the fact the initials aren't there in case he forgets his own name or that he's an arrogant bastard. Instead, they are the initials of his children's names: Ajay Jones, Avery Jones, Albey Jones and Anney Jones.

When asked about it by WWE, Styles said:

"I’ve always liked tattoos. I wanted it to mean something when I finally got one. At the grand old age of 32, I decided, I want my kids’ initials and birthdays."

Aww.
