If you go back to 2000 when Kurt Angle won his first WWF Championship, nearly everyone who held the title before that point is currently in the WWE Hall of Fame. The only ones who haven’t been enshrined yet are wrestlers who are still active in some form: The Big Show, Kane, Triple H and The Rock. And then there are a few anomalies: Vince McMahon, Stan Stasiak, Ivan Koloff and Sid Vicious. However, everyone who held the belt two or more times is already in, except for Angle. It was time to right that wrong.

After all, if a wrestler holds the World Title for any amount of time, that means Vince thinks they’re able to carry the company on their shoulders (except in the rare transitional runs like Stasiak or Iron Sheik). Angle was trusted with that honor on multiple occasions very early into his career. He ended up having four runs with the belt, which put his reigns longer than Hall of Famers Billy Graham and Ultimate Warrior. He also captured the World Heavyweight Championship once, as well as the European Championship, the Intercontinental Title, and the Hardcore and Tag Titles. He was a machine, and could be used at anywhere on the card.

Besides all the entertainment gold he held, the man held the real deal as well...

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
