June 9, 1997 was an eventful Monday evening for North American pro wrestling. Across the country, Shawn Michaels and Bret Hart had a physical altercation behind the curtain on Monday Night Raw. Meanwhile, WCW management had their own problems to deal with, this time in the form of both Kevin Nash and Roddy Piper.

The Canadian had earlier teamed with Ric Flair to face Nash and Scott Hall in tag-team action. Before the bout, all had agreed that it wouldn't start with a brawl, they would instead build up to that. Piper and Flair either forgot or ignored this, angering Nash and stiff shots were exchanged throughout the match.

Backstage, an irate Piper was telling Hulk Hogan what had happened. When Nash returned to the locker room, the 'Rowdy' one stood up as though he was going to fight him. One open-handed slap from Nash (which he claims was done out of respect, rather than punching Roddy) later, and the situation was defused.

The duo never really had problems again, until Nash says Piper began changing the story on his podcast.
