10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Road Dogg

8. TNA Rekindled His Love For Wrestling

It was his drug problems that got Road Dogg fired from his job with the then-WWF in December, 2000. Officially let go from his contract in January, 2001, the man had a long road to get himself back on the straight and narrow. Briefly working with the upstart World Wrestling All-Stars promotion, James joined TNA when WWA folded. After leaving the cushy WWF bubble, Brian James was an angry, confused man. It would have been easy for his life to spiral further out of control, but TNA helped give him something to focus on. Instead of becoming just another pro wrestling statistic, he started to get his life together. In many ways, TNA directly brought back Road Dogg's passion for the industry. Due to the fact that his friend, Jeff Jarrett was in charge at TNA, James felt secure. That sense of stability translated over into his personal life, at least for a while. Eventually, drugs would once again seize hold of his day-to-day life, but at least TNA had given the man a place to hang his hat and make a living from wrestling again.
