10 Wrestling Promos That Started REAL Backstage Heat

9. Goldust And Ahmed Johnson

Stretching the definition of a promo here but, well, it was part of a pre-planned in-ring segment and… I guess… it involves… the human mouth… ? Whatever.

During a heated (read; steamy) match during the 1996 King of the Ring, the pair perform a call-back to their infamous CPR segment on a recent episode of Raw. That’s the scientific way of saying that Goldust just grabs Johnson by the face and open-mouthed kisses him.

Ahmed’s reaction to this was to explode back to his feet and stiff Goldust to within an inch of his life. Johnson clarified the incident on The Unsanctioned Podcast…

“I love Goldust. Goldust is one of the best workers there is. What happened was, I told him not to be kissing me and stuff for real, because we had rehearsed it to where he was supposed to put his hand over my mouth and kiss his hand. Because it was live TV I couldn’t move if he did whatever he did that he said he would. And he didn’t do it. He kissed me for real. And I was like, ‘uh-huh’. That was blow-up time.”

BLOW. UP. TIME.
