10 Wrestling Promos That Started REAL Backstage Heat
8. Samoa Joe And Kevin Nash
Say what you like about Vince Russo (everybody else does) but there’s honestly something impressive about the reputation he managed to have with those who worked with him. One so infamous, that one wrestler can hear another say something so deeply, personally upsetting, and their first thought still be “bet Vinny’s written this”.
Thus was it so when, in the aftermath of Scott Hall no-showing a TNA show, Samoa Joe was handed a live microphone on PPV and told to “get him”. He absolutely buried Hall’s attitude and work ethic, called him a punk, and ended with the classic “kiss my ass”. All while Kevin Nash, Hall’s best friend and the only man in the building who knew the full extent of Hall’s substance problems, was stood next to him in the ring.
I’ll just… I’ll let Nash himself tell the rest of this story.
“I said, ‘Was what you said out there, was it yours or was it f*****g Russo’s?’ He said, ‘It was mine.’ So I smacked him in the face. I said, ‘Don’t disrespect me, don’t disrespect Scott.’ Joe f*****g got up, I thought he was gonna come at me so I smacked him in the f*****g head again and he f*****g didn’t do anything.”
