Three days before the Survivor Series tag match, Rey and Eddie squared off in their first (televised) WWE singles match. The two had rumbled on many occasions in WCW, back when both were trying to prove themselves and break out of the midcard - and carrying a lot less muscle on their frames, it must be said. Contesting a wonderful fifteen minute contest, Rey and Eddie showed that they hadn't lost a step since their WCW days and that their chemistry was as strong as ever. Full of a slick exchanges and high spots, the two men looked like they were wrestling with a point to prove. One thing that stands out in this match is just how crisp everything they did was, and how much effort is put into every move and movement - look at the way Eddie executes a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker, a plancha or ever something as simple as an elbow. Rey, for his part, is on form, busting out a picture-perfect moonstault press from the top rope and a dangerous slingshot hilo to Eddie, who was lying on the ringside mats. Nuts. In the end, Eddie came out on top, reversing a springboard sunset flip into the rarely seen Laso from El Paso. A good end to a grand TV match, one well worth checking out on the Network.
