15 Times Stone Cold Steve Austin's Ego Ran Wild In WWE

13. Blocking Mick Foley From Wrestling The WrestleMania 15 Main Event

At WrestleMania 15, WWF creative were discussing a triple threat main event of Stone Cold Steve Austin versus The Rock versus Mankind. Mick Foley had became one of the biggest stars of the Attitude era, so it would have made sense to have seen him in there. He'd done sensational TV ratings on Raw and had been a champion and contender at the start of the year. He was right there in the mix. But Stone Cold Steve Austin didn't feel like it was the right call to have Foley in the main event. He felt, possibly correctly, that it should be Austin Rock. Other reports stated that Austin felt like Foley was beneath him. Another theory was that he didn't want to split the pay-day, showing not only ego, but selfishness. Vince Russo offered a different version of events, blaming Shawn Michaels for getting in Austin's ear and convincing him that Foley wasn't worthy. Next thing you know, Austin was off to McMahon and getting the match changed. Whatever went down, fans looked past Austin's politics, instead remembering what did end up being a classic rivalry with Rock Austin main eventing.
