The Shield’s debut trios match vs. Team Hell No & Ryback is rightly held up among the best 3-on-3 matches in WWE history, but their Elimination Chamber 2014 war against The Wyatt Family stands up stronger. The first of three six-man tags between the two factions, it displayed two great stables at the height of their respective powers, and had the fans chanting “this is awesome” before the first punch was even thrown.

The unique thing about original Shield vs. Wyatt bout was that both teams were heels at the time, but the fans still loved them. This created an immense “big fight” atmosphere, and when they finally locked horns, it felt like a PPV main event. It was nothing short of chaos, regularly spilling outside the ring and into the crowd, with Seth Rollins stealing the show with high spots and ingenuity.

The Shield’s numbers were slowly whittled down towards the end, with Dean Ambrose taken out of the equation, then Rollins. This left Roman Reigns alone with the Family, and while he fought bravely, Luke Harper leaped in front of a Spear intended for Bray Wyatt, allowing the Eater of Worlds to capitalise and take the victory.
