Beating out both of Ultimate Warrior's Intercontinental Title reigns by one day is Tito Santana.

Forget the whole El Matador shtick, Tito was a staple of WWF in the 1980s, valued as a highly-respected worker in both the singles and tag ranks. His second reign with Intercontinental gold came in at 217 days, with him defeating long-time rival Greg "The Hammer" Valentine to regain the title in a July 1985 steel cage match.

What's most notable about Santana's second run with the belt is that it ushered in a new design for the Intercontinental Title itself.

Storyline-wise, Valentine smashed up the Intercontinental Championship in a fit of rage after losing it. In real life, the then-WWF thought that the title needed a bit of a facelift and so brought in the version of the Intercontinental Championship that most deem the "classic" version of the belt.

Tito would see out the rest of 1985 as the IC Champ before losing the gold to a no-good up and coming heel by the name of Randy Savage (courtesy of a foreign object) in February 1986.
