Much like the Ultimate Warrior, Tito Santana is a name who also appears twice on this list.

Whilst his second reign as Intercontinental Champion lasted 217 days, Santana's first run with the title totalled 226 days.

What's makes Santana's first run with the belt so important is that there's a strong argument to say that he was the first real "workhorse" holder of the IC Title, following on from Pat Patterson, Ken Patera, Pedro Morales and Don Muraco. That particular tag is one that would become synonymous with the Intercontinental Championship over the next decade or so.

Having defeated Muraco for the belt in February 1984, Santana would go on to battle with Greg Valentine in what was one of the WWF's biggest feuds of the '80s and one which brought plenty of eyes to the Intercontinental division as their matches would regular main event live shows. With Valentine himself no slouch, the pair put on some of the title's first real memorable matches.
