The WWE has over sixty years of history. The reason that the company only recently celebrated their 50th anniversary is because they only officially got going as the WWWF in 1963. But the roots actually stretch back to 1952. It was in those early fifties that Jess McMahon and Toots Mondt founded the Capitol Wrestling Corporation. The group joined the NWA in 1953 and quickly emerged as a significant member. Unfortunately, Jess passed away in 1954 and had no idea what he he had set in motion. Vincent J McMahon was brought in as the partner to Toots and the pair soon became key controllers in the NWA's booking. The wheels of what would become the WWE were in motion.
