5 Biggest WWE Championship Changes In WrestleMania History

Triple H made a huge announcement on Monday's WWE RAW, which changes the outlook of the WWE Championship match at WrestleMania 30. The main event will now for absolute certainty be a triple threat match between Randy Orton, Batista and the winner of HHH vs Bryan. Daniel Bryan's path to WrestleMania started last year at SummerSlam, when he won the WWE Championship, only to get attacked by Triple H and lose the title minutes later to Money In The Bank winner Randy Orton. This was followed by months of Bryan chasing the title, but coming up short due to The Authority. The fans grew tired of the booking of Daniel Bryan, and the screwy finishes by the WWE. Last week during the "Occupy RAW" segment, the WWE finally got it right, and it seems evident that the fans will get their wish. What better way to put the WWE Universe's hero over then by defeating Triple H and moving on to victory at the main event of the pay-per-view. The long road for Bryan will culminate with him holding the WWE Championship at the SuperDome in New Orleans, with confetti falling from the ceiling, and 70,000 plus fans chanting "Yes! Yes! Yes!" The scene is set for an epic WWE title change at WrestleMania 30, and the beginning of the Daniel Bryan Era. Lets take a look back at the 5 biggest WWE Heavyweight Championship changes in WrestleMania history.

5. John Cena Defeats The Rock - WrestleMania 29

The match itself was not great, as The Rock injured himself midway through the match, but the importance of it was. WrestleMania 29 was the biggest grossing WWE event in its history, and broke records for the revenues it generated for the local New York economy. It also pitted arguably the two biggest stars from the "Attitude Era" and the "PG Era" in one of the biggest rematches in WrestleMania history. The Rock was being billed as the biggest Superstar in WWE history, having owned victories against the three biggest stars of their eras: Hulk Hogan, Stone Cold Steve Austin and John Cena. He was also coming off of an unbelievable year in Hollywood having starred in films like Fast and Furious 6 and GI Joe. However, after winning the WWE Championship at the Royal Rumble, there were rumors of backlash taking place with some of the WWE stars in the locker room. The Rock was not a full time wrestler, and did not defend his title on the weekly shows. We were also not seeing him with the WWE title when he would make his appearances promoting his films. John Cena defeating The Rock and becoming the WWE Champion again, brought the title back to one of their own. It was also a passing of the torch, as Cena defeated a huge "Attitude Era" star, and could now be seen as an even bigger star.
