5 Biggest WWE Championship Changes In WrestleMania History

4. John Cena Defeats JBL - WrestleMania 21

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aQ57qEco96Y This was John Cena's second WrestleMania match in his career, and pitted the young up and coming star against the experienced veteran. At the time, JBL was the longest reigning WWE Champion in over a decade, and was the face of WWE's SmackDown. The match was dominated by JBL, as he was in complete control over John Cena. The ending saw JBL go for his clothesline from Hell, but Cena ducked under it, and hit his FU finisher (now known as the Attitude Adjustment) for the pin. Michael Cole was calling the match, and after the victory, he proclaimed "the time is now for John Cena!" This was the first WWE Championship for John Cena, and the start of Cena becoming the face of the WWE. Just as Hulk Hogan is known as the biggest wrestling star of the '80's, John Cena will be know as the biggest wrestling star of the 2000's (or the PG Era). When we look back, this match was the start of his superstar career, and Cena has been carrying the WWE on his shoulders ever since.
