8 Comedy Wrestlers Who Were Legitimate Tough Guys

3. Heath Slater

Ever since the heartbreaking end of The Corre, Heath Slater has been positioned as a comedy wrestler. Not only that, he's managed the role with aplomb, turning the corner when it comes to the opinion of a section of the audience. Those who considered him pointless during the Nexus have come to accept his importance.

He doesn't exactly look like the toughest cookie either, with his ginger locks and goofy demeanour. Well, it's all for show I tell you, as Mr. Heath Slater is actually a former Golden Gloves boxing champion. If you aren't familiar with the Golden Gloves, it is a national tournament in the United States of America for amateur boxers.

You don't win a tournament based around getting punched without being double-tough.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
