Taka Michinoku's World Wrestling Federation career was memorable for three reasons. First of all, he was the first recognised Light Heavyweight Champion in company history. Secondly, he was the unlucky chap to faceplant in the most visually impressive Royal Rumble elimination ever. Lastly, he had a comedic run with fellow Japanese wrestler Sho Funaki as Kai En Tai, who would come complete with hilarious overdubs and almost chopped Val Venis' penis off.

The Attitude Era was awful.

Most guys who come out of the various dojos of Japan are going to be tough as nails (no, not Nailz) and Taka Michinoku is no exception. Taka is another wrestler who has taken part in official MMA competition. although he was unsuccessful in his one and only bout. He isn't the biggest, but he probably doesn't need to be.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
