6. His First Challenger Was Randy Orton
Randy Orton was the first challenger to Rollins newly won championship, and doom immediately followed. In an extension of their WrestleMania rivalry, Orton versus Rollins was the headline match of the post WrestleMania season.
Yes, the 5th biggest Wrestlemania match was being expected to keep things hot after all the part-timers left. Randy Orton is one of the most honored champions of all-time, but at this point in his career he's not a legit top face challenger for a championship.
Previously, WWE booked Orton to defeat Rollins at Wrestlemania to play the "well he's already beat him once" card. Their feud was over run by the heat vaporizing Kane, and Shield 2.0 members Joey Mercury and Jamie Noble.
Unfortunately WWE had to turn to Orton when he wasn't the best candidate to be a new champions first opponent. As his career has gone on, Orton has shined in the role of being the guy someone faced BEFORE they went to the main event level.
To start Rollins run off, there should have be a more exciting opponent who didn't need to win the belt, but would feel fresh, like Dolph Ziggler. Just imagine the matches.
