8 Ways The Rock's WWE Return Ruined John Cena

5. John Cena Chose The Rock As His Tag Team Partner

After the match was set for WrestleMania XXVIII, Rock vs. Cena for the first time ever, Johnson hadn't made any more appearances for the company. In November of 2011, Miz and R-Truth had attacked Cena and were challenging him to a match at Survivor Series. So who did John Cena pick as a partner for the big showdown? That's right, he picked The Rock. WHY?! It made zero sense for Cena to pick The Rock as his tag team partner. The two would co-exist just long enough to dispose of Truth and Miz (with absolute ease), only for Rock to deliver a Rock Bottom to Cena right after the match. Fans couldn't even feel bad for Cena that he'd been attacked, it was clear one of them would attack the other before WrestleMania. The Rock just got there first. I still to this day don't understand the booking sense in Cena teaming with Rock. I interviewed former WWE Writer Brian Maxwell Mann last year, who worked in the company at the time and I asked him why they teamed up and if there was a plan to explain it that maybe never made it to TV. His answer was simple - "No, you're right, it made no sense. It was stupid. They just wanted a way for Rock to work The Garden". So there you have it. IT MADE NO SENSE.
