CM Punk achieved pretty much everything in his WWE career. Well, everything except winning the Royal Rumble and headlining WrestleMania, but thousands of words have already been written about those. In 2009, Punk managed to win both the Intercontinental and World Heavyweight Championships, although both title wins came in very different circumstances.

Punk's only Intercontinental Championship was won on 19 January 2009. He defeated William Regal on RAW to win the championship, but his run wasn't exactly memorable. Seven weeks later, Punk lost the title to JBL, ostensibly to set up Bradshaw's retirement angle at WrestleMania XXV.

Punk won his second straight Money in the Bank ladder match at that same show, and just a few months later he cashed in his briefcase on an exhausted Jeff Hardy. This set the wheels in motion for Punk to turn heel, and gave his career a much-needed boost in the process.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
