When Bret Hart returned to WWE at the onset of 2010, it was believed he had only signed through WrestleMania 26, but that proved to be not the case. Even after dismantling longtime rival Vince McMahon limb by limb on the grand stage, he continued to appear on WWE TV alongside The Hart Dynasty. He also managed to beat The Miz for the United States Championship on an episode of Raw that May.

The very next week, he was revealed to be the new Raw general manager, immediately making a WWE Championship Fatal 4-Way match official for the following pay-per-view. For the first time in nearly a year, the flagship show would be run by someone with actual experience and not a celebrity advertising their upcoming movie or book.

Needless to say, having Hart in charge was a breath of fresh air and an excellent use of The Hitman, but he was removed from power before he could amount to anything in that role. Mere weeks into his reign as Raw GM, he was viciously assaulted by The Nexus, who arrived on the scene in early June.

Vince McMahon returned to TV not long after to announce Hart could no longer serve as the show's authority figure with the condition he was in. So, was he merely meant to be a placeholder or did plans change somewhere along the way? Either way, a definite disappointment.
