All 5 Wrestlers Who Defeated Sting Clean On TNA PPV

4. Bobby Roode (Victory Road 2012)

As you could tell from the previous slide, TNA relied a little too heavily on established stars from other promotions from 2008 to 2011. Sting, Jeff Hardy, Kurt Angle, Mr. Anderson and others all had fine reigns as TNA World Heavyweight champion, but what about the homegrown talent? Seemingly by chance, Bobby Roode emerged in early 2012 as one of the best villains the company had seen in years. Shortly after capturing his first TNA Title, he embarked on a lengthy run as champion that saw him overcome the likes of AJ Styles, Jeff Hardy, Rob Van Dam and James Storm. All the while, he was blatantly disrespecting TNA President Dixie Carter on a weekly basis, which Sting didn't take kindly to, leading to their heated non-title affair at the Victory Road pay-per-view. Yes, this was the same event where Jeff Hardy embarrassed the organization in the main event one year prior, also against Sting. The Icon had a much better showing on this night, however, taking the fight to Roode before falling short of victory. Roode didn't have to use a beer bottle or cheat to win this bout, mind. In hitting the Scorpion Death Drop, Sting bumped his head on the steel chair behind him, knocking him out long enough for the former Beer Money member to take advantage and the score the deciding fall.
It was a wonky way for Roode to win, granted, but it was nothing he did that caused Sting to lose, hence why it will forever go down in the record books as a clean victory for the self-proclaimed It Factor.
