WWE: 10 Times When WrestleMania Matches Actually Lived Up To The Hype

Every professional wrestler dreams of performing at a WrestleMania. If they say otherwise they're likely lying to themselves and to you. It's where dreams come true for the performers and the memories last forever for the fans. It's also the place where there's more pressure to perform than anywhere else in the world. Along with the pressure comes hype. That hype is created by a number of sources from the wrestlers themselves to the WWE machine promoting the match and of course from us fans watching at home. We set the expectation level. We wonder if two wrestlers can match what we expect them to do. Sometimes they don't and we wonder why. We find people to blame. Maybe it was the booking or simply a case of two performers having no chemistry. It's fair to say that those John Cena vs. The Rock matches at the last two WrestleManias had a lot of hype, but did they live up to it by delivering classic matches? Not really. Sorry WWE Universe. You're wrong to think that Cena/Rock was match of the year at the 2013 Slammy Awards. It wasn't even in the top 20. For some fans maybe it lived up to the hype. Not for all of us. What we're here to talk about today are those instances when WrestleMania matches lived up to the hype. It's not about the best WrestleMania matches ever. It's about the hype machine and whether a match came through in terms of delivering the match quality as well as the memorable moments that we have come to expect at WrestleMania. Jerry Lawler vs. Michael? No. That's not on the list. Let's see what is.
