WWE: 10 Times When WrestleMania Matches Actually Lived Up To The Hype

10. Shawn Michaels vs. Bret Hart - WrestleMania 12

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1MFAezS0u00 Two of the best in-ring performers ever going at it for 60 minutes with the WWE Championship on the line. It wasn't easy for Michaels and Hart to have a match like that considering there had never been an Ironman match at a WrestleMania before. There hasn't been one at a WrestleMania since. They had matches before. They even headlined a PPV together at Survivor Series 1992. However, those matches weren't built up like this one was with Bret as the established top guy while Michaels was a two time Royal Rumble winner that was looking to get to that spot. It was also unique in that it was a battle of babyfaces, which wasn't that common in WrestleMania main events. The only reason it's not higher is because it could have been booked better. Having no falls in an hour was a nice idea in theory, but it was not the best thing to do. There were other Ironman matches in the years that followed with plenty of falls that helped tell a better story. Considering all the pressure they had to deliver a high quality main event they should be applauded for pulling it off and giving us that moment where Shawn Michaels' boyhood dream came true.
