WWE Royal Rumble 2018: 7 Reasons To Be Fearful

4. One Rumble Will Outshine The Other

It's not very nice to talk about the first ever female Royal Rumble match and be down on it. Kurt Angle's announcement that the match would feature 30 women and be as long form as the traditional men's bout should be met with cheers. So, why are we sitting here fearing the worst during what should be a time of celebration?

Every January, people cite the Rumble as one of their favourite match types. It's unique, and we only see it once per year. Not so in 2018, because the card will feature two full-blown Rumbles, the only difference being gender. Yes, it is great that women have their own WrestleMania title chase, but there's a good chance one match will outshine the other.

If the women's match goes on first (which seems plausible), some shine comes off the men's Rumble later in the same show. Besides, many of the same spots are likely to be recycled between both, and a historic first could end up looking like a failed experiment.

Let's hope we're wrong.
