5 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE SmackDown (22 Aug - Results & Review)
John Cena and Logan Paul bring it; SmackDown's women's division is in real trouble.
Logan Paul dropped John Cena with a (redone) punch to close out this week's episode of WWE SmackDown. It's true: The company shot another version of LP cracking JC, and it followed on nicely from their in-ring verbal face to face. Credit to both guys for bringing it on the mic there. They had the best segment on Friday's show by a mile.
Dublin, Ireland was fired up for some WWE action. Admittedly, the rowdy crowd down at the Docklands did help bring this week's edition to life. Some matches, like The Street Profits vs. MFTs and a main event starring Becky Lynch, Nia Jax, Tiffany Stratton and Jade Cargill just had nothing to say. The way creative stiffed the latter out of time was particularly annoying given the star power on hand and how much Stratton's title has been struggling to convince lately.
On the plus side, Carmelo Hayes is finally getting some well-deserved screen time with a purpose. His pairing with The Miz is working well for both. Speaking of which, Charlotte Flair's own duo with Alexa Bliss has completely flipped the script on what's expected from a Charlotte babyface run. Here, Flair was a team player who looked every bit the star maker rather than the brattish focal point.
There's more good than bad to report then, which is great news. Clash In Paris is shaping up to be decent, and there was a bit of extra garnish put on the Cena vs. Paul match you should honestly go out of your way to see.
Here's all the yay and nay from Smackers.
