7 WWE Returns That Flopped HARD!

2. Eva Marie

Eva Marie was never the peak of the women's division. She joined the main roster at the same time as Total Divas began in 2013, in a move which felt as much about having her as part of the WWE's new relationship with E! Entertainment as it did what she could contribute to the women's division.

Having spent 4 years on the main roster and NXT, Eva Marie left the WWE in a move that was in no way unsurprising. When she was resigned in 2021, it was hard to understand why. Despite being put into stories with the Bellas, Stephanie McMahon, Carmella, and an NXT championship feud with Bayley, it didn't feel like she would be able to keep up with the massive progress the women's division had made in her time away.

This turned out to be accurate. Her partnership with Piper Niven's Doudrop felt unnatural and forced, she couldn't keep up in the ring with Alexa Bliss during their feud, and Doudrop turning on Eva Marie did little to elevate her standing in the company. She was attacked by Shayna Baszler before being released again, to nobody's surprise.
