35. Triple H vs Roman Reigns (WrestleMania 32)

2016 was a weird year. The year opened with Roman Reigns embroiled in a feud with the McMahon Family, during which he was forced to put his WWE Championship on the line in the Royal Rumble match. This marked the first time since 1992 that the winner of the Rumble would win the belt instead of getting a title shot at WrestleMania, and the first time ever that the WWE title was defended by the champion in the Rumble match.

At the age of 46, Triple H would emerge from the Rumble match with the WWE Championship, where he would take on Roman Reigns at WrestleMania. This was set up by Roman winning a Triple Threat Match against Brock Lesnar and Dean Ambrose on Raw, and after Triple H defended his title in a brilliant match against Ambrose at Fastlane.

The match between Reigns and Triple H felt particularly dull because the victor was possibly the most predictable in WrestleMania history (or, at the very least, since Hulk Hogan was in one). Triple H was never going to continue as champion, and fans were gagging on having Roman Reigns forced down their throats so hard. It remains a difficult watch, and a WrestleMania main event to forget.
