The Fantastic Four is easily one of the biggest reasons Marvel is the publisher it is today.
The team comprised of Reed Richards, Ben Grimm and Sue and Johnny Storm originally debuted in 1961 courtesy of Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, and they've continued to enthral fans of all ages, genders, and races around the world ever since.
With the exciting news of the First Family's MCU arrival etching ever closer to reality, there's no time like the present to take a look back at the history of one of Marvel's most important teams, and all their incarnations that have graced the Marvel Multiverse.
While not every version of the Fantastic Four has featured the heroic paragons we are used to, it is undeniable that most of these incarnations are made up of some of the most powerful Marvel characters ever created. (Yes, even the one where it's just the Marvel Bullpen with the Fantastic Four's powers!)
From unexpected additions to iconic alternate realities, here are some of the most powerful incarnations of the Fantastic Four to have graced the pages of Marvel Comics.
10. Earth 616's Fearsome Four
The Iconic four-person team setup of the Fantastic Four has been used by almost every other Marvel superhero team, and no other team takes the four-person team to such extremely strange lengths as the members of the Fearsome Four.
This team is made up of Howard the Duck, She-Hulk, Nighthawk, and Frankenstein's Monster (yes, THAT Frankenstein's Monster).
The team originally came together during the events of Fear Itself to battle mad scientist Psycho-Man and save the nexus of all realities residing inside the swamp creature Man-Thing.
While one of the most unique teams in Marvel history, sadly the Fearsome Four only worked together this one time in the "Fear Itself" event. Even so, their effectiveness shows just how well they would work if they ever joined up again - as members of the Fantastic Four, or any of their other offshoot teams.
