Fans who cringe at the exorbitant price of comic books these days unquestionably got their moneys worth when it came to the amount of content and action in Superior Spider-Man. Dan Slott managed to pack a ton of plot development into this series, as a standard issue would often have at least three or four subplots running concurrently (sometimes even more) involving Spidey, Mary Jane, Carlie Cooper, the Green Goblin, J. Jonah Jameson, Alchemax/Horizon Labs, etc. Additionally, Slott had a penchant for ending almost all of his Superior issues on a cliffhanger, whether it be some foreboding comment from the Goblin, the appearance of Ghost Peter, or something else that threatened to throw the Superior status quo into upheaval. Even if you were not totally in favor of a certain plot point or characterization, Slott found ways to make readers invested in his story and eager to read the next issue.
