10 Shocking Times The Joker Died
7. Joker Blew Himself Up - Batman #650
In the story, Death in the Family, the Joker blew up the second Robin, Jason Todd, with a bomb. For years, Batman saw this tragedy as his greatest failure.
But when a Superboy from another universe called Superboy Prime caused a rift in the multiverse, Jason Todd came back to life.
When he learned Batman was still grieving over his sidekick's death, Todd promised to make things right. He captured the Joker, tied him up, and then ordered Batman to kill him. Todd was fully aware that Batman has a No-Kill Rule but believed the Joker should be the sole exception.
Todd ordered his mentor to kill the Joker on the count of three or he would do it himself. As Todd started counting down, Bats hurled a batarang at Todd, causing him to collapse to the ground.
The Joker then pulled out a gun and blasted a stack of C4 explosives, blowing up the entire floor. Even though he killed himself, the psychotic prankster knew he won since he made Batman lose Todd all over again. However, Superboy Prime created another rift in the multiverse moments later, returning the Joker and Todd to life.
