10 Shocking Times The Joker Died

3. Batman Indirectly Creates The Batman Who Laughs - The Batman Who Laughs #1-2

Joker Dead
DC Comics

In a parallel universe called Earth-22, the Joker discovered he was dying from the same chemicals that turned him into what he is. Realising his death was inevitable, he decided to go on the mother-of-all killing sprees.

After he slaughtered Penguin, Catwoman, Commissioner Gordon, and dozens of civilians, Batman realised that the Joker had gone too far. When Batman saw his nemesis preparing to inject children with Joker Venom, Batman snapped the Joker's neck.

It seemed like the chalk-skinned maniac, who had tormented Gotham for so many years, was gone for good. Sadly, his murder spree was far from over.

When the he died, the toxin in his body dispersed and entered Batman's body, driving him insane. This version of Bruce Wayne is a hybrid of Batman and the Joker called The Batman Who Laughs.

His new mission in life is to travel to other universes and recruit twisted versions of Batman so he can conquer the multiverse. Batman of Earth-22 tried to stop the Joker once and for all and instead, created one of the most dangerous supervillains in existence.
