10 Superman Villains Too Crazy For Batman V Superman

Superman is undeniably one of the most popular superheroes in the world, having starred in multiple films and headlined several comics every month for decades. Despite that one of the biggest problems that plagues the Man Of Steel as a flagship property is that he has very few good villains.

It’s not hard to understand where the problem comes from: Superman’s whole premise is that he’s all-powerful and nearly indestructible. With that in mind, there’s not really much that can present a legitimate threat to him that can also boast longevity. His powers seemingly require that most of his foes be powerful alien monsters like Brainiac, Doomsday, and Darkseid.

The lone exception to this rule is, of course, Lex Luthor. The direct contrast to Superman’s inhuman strength and unwavering morality, Luthor is completely human and willing to do anything to see his goals achieved. All of this would perhaps explain why he’s appeared in nearly every Superman movie, including next year’s Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice.

Superman can’t spend all of his time fighting alien menaces and human geniuses, however, and there’s a gallery of bizarre foes and oddball creations that he has fought throughout his existence. Thankfully, not every villain is deemed as being up to the task of starring in a feature film, and we can probably all thank DC for never stooping as low as picking any of these second class criminals...

The Villain: The first version of Bloodsport was Robert DuBois, a Vietnam draft dodger who went crazy and imagined himself to be a hardened war veteran. His role was succeeded by Alexander Trent, an angry white supremacist who wanted to wreak havoc on the world.

The common bond between them was an advanced teleporter in their armour which they used to bring futuristic weaponry to themselves at a moment’s notice.

Why He Wouldn’t Work In The Film: Bloodsport is unremarkable in all the important ways and notable in all the wrong ones. His modus operandi consists of having some guns and kryptonite weapons. It’s incredibly unoriginal and there’s hordes of Superman villains who have similar gimmicks. 

Conversely, on a personal level, he’s completely unlikable and ridiculous. Both incarnations are crazy, one a psycho and the other a racist. As a character, he lacks any sort of compelling motive or characterization to go with his bizarre theme. In a movie, he would amount to little more than a disposable henchman.
