Walt Simonsons run on the main Thor title is considered to be the amongst the best Odinson comics Marvel ever published, and the writer/artists contributions to the character and his world are undeniable. His artwork brought a new, epic cosmic scale not seen since Jack Kirbys work on the book, and he wasnt afraid to try new things either. One of those things was the introduction of Beta Ray Bill, a horse-faced alien who beats Thor in single combat, manages to be worthy enough to lift Mjolnir, and is then gifted his own Asgardian weapon once everybody kisses and makes up. Bill has appeared in Thor comics to this day; one of other Simonsons creations, less so. For a handful of issues towards the end of the eighties, Simonson turned Thor into a frog. Well, technically a spell cast by Loki turned Thor into a frog, but it was Simonson who spun the story out to a multi-part saga where he hops about Central Park looking for a cure. It was the undeniable nadir of his run on the book, and people try to forget about it.
