Following the fantastic but pretty grim crime epic that writers Brian Michael Bendis and Ed Brubaker turned Daredevil into, where Matt Murdock went from the protector of New York City's Hell's Kitchen district to its de facto Kingpin, Mark Waid decided it was time to give him a break. His recent run made Daredevil a little more happy go lucky, living in the moment, along with a move to San Francisco. What is seemingly a seismic shift for character imagine if Batman shipped out of Gotham for a spell is actually not without precedent. Along with being a fantastically talented writer Mark Waid has an intimate knowledge of comics history, with almost every aspect of his run drawn from Daredevil's past. In fact Matt Murdock had already upped sticks for the West Coast in the seventies, which is where he met Black Widow, leading to a tumultuous love affair that didn't work out well for anybody to be quite honest.
