10 Most Tragic Deaths In The History Of Batman

You were actually responsible for one of the deaths. Yes, you!

Since his humble beginnings, Batman has always been a dark character. Oh sure, if you're watching the '60s show or reading the Silver Age comics you'll be seeing a lighter incarnation of the Caped Crusader, but within the past few decades, readers and audiences have grown to know Batman as the shadowy vigilante who patrols Gotham City and strikes terror into the hearts of criminals. Batman fights crime in a city that throws every worse thing it can cough up at him, and while most of the time he succeeds, there have been tragedies and losses along the way. Batman's whole life is dedicated towards keeping the innocent safe, but he's not perfect. He's lost people close to him, and most of the time this drives him to do his job even better, although they still affect him deeply. Over the history of Batman in comics, movies, and television, there have been people who have been lost during the fight against evil that have been tragic. Whether it be one of his costumed partners, an ally in the city government, or even a villain who made some wrong choices along the way, death is a constant in the fight against evil. This list will look at those deaths which hit the characters, readers and viewers hard when their lives were ended prematurely. Although Batman has many allies and acquaintances in the Justice League and other organizations, I've primarily stuck with characters who are directly related to the Batman mythos.
