20 Mind-Blowing Facts You Didn't Know About Superman

3. Someone Tried To Shoot George Reeves (Allegedly)

By all accounts, George Reeves hated playing Superman in the 1950s TV series. The pay was low and the production schedule was hectic, and the serious actor was worried that playing the superhero would lead to him being typecast. Making appearances as the Man of Steel also bothered him (he would have to do these in full costume), and he claimed that a youngster turned up to one of these with a gun, believing that the bullets would bounce off his idol. It's widely believed that this story was actually completely fictional, and made up by Reeves so that he would no longer have to make these tedious appearances!
