DC Comics

At the conclusion of Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo's Endgame in the New 52, Batman is trapped in a cave with the Joker, with a supply of Dionesium, a drug used to explain the Joker's long life, and ability to heal after he cut his own face of at the beginning of the New 52. Having been exposed to the drug himself during the cave's explosion, Bruce's brain is forced to heal from its injuries, and does so while blocking out any memory of him ever being Batman.

He dedicates his life to charity work, and even finds a girl, things that make Alfred ecstatically happy. But Gotham still needs a Batman, and in the ensuing storyline Superheavy, the GCPD step in to fill the void.

After a few months of Crossfit, shaving off his trademark moustache and quitting smoking, Jim Gordon squeezes into a skintight Bat-bodystocking, and hops into a huge mech nicknamed 'Bunny', to become a Batman of checks and balances, that works within the confines of the law.

While this seems to work for a while, Bruce eventually finds out who he is supposed to be, and with Alfred pleading him not to, he descends down to his cave, and utilises a machine that recreates all of his trauma, restoring his memories and allowing him to become the Batman again.
