MCU Phase 5: Predicting The NEW Avengers Lineup
3. Doctor Strange
The thing about the Avengers is that they are the heaviest hitters that the Marvel universe has to offer. They're called Earth's Mightiest Heroes for a reason, after all. If they can't do it, literally no one can. So with that being said, these last three entries are comprised of the heaviest hitters the MCU has thus far, starting with Doctor Strange.
Doctor Strange is the most powerful sorcerer Marvel has ever created. Folks like Doctor Doom come close, but he hasn't been introduced yet so Strange stands unchallenged. Not only does he have control over the Time Stone, but he also can manipulate reality to his will, stand up against Thanos himself one on one, and as we'll soon see, travel between alternate realities at will.
Strange's knowledge of the mystic arts is a blind spot that the Avengers only kinda filled with Thor previously, but he wasn't exactly a bookish kind of guy so even then it was surface level stuff.
Strange meanwhile has a deep, intimate knowledge of how the mystical side of Marvel operates, which - depending on which villain turns out to be the new big bad - will definitely come in handy.
