Why Captain Marvel Is Going To Be A Very Different MCU Movie

5. It's About The Most Powerful Hero In The MCU

Speaking to Vulture in October last year, Kevin Feige remarked how Carol Danvers would be the most powerful hero the MCU had ever seen. Now, topping the power levels of both Hulk and Thor might seem a tad superfluous given how the Avengers always find a way to take a beating from their enemies, but the repercussions of Feige's statements aren't to be taken lightly.

Carol Danvers has, and probably always will be, among the most powerful heroes in the Marvel Universe. On top of possessing powers like super strength, flight and energy absorption (which can be turned into energy blasts), the Captain also has the ability to break the sound barrier six times over. Further still, her Kree influence means that most toxins and illnesses fail to faze her. So yeah, she's pretty powerful.

How they'll convey these powers onscreen is anyone's guess, but given the reaction to the Chitauri Invasion, it's highly doubtful that Marvel will push for a big city spectacle. Considering that the character will have been M.I.A. for some time by the time Infinity War comes around, it wouldn't be at all disingenuous to assume that we'll get to see Carol in a cosmic setting very soon.
