With great power must also come a great chance that it will kill you. Well, that's at least how the saying goes for Cheetah. Now one might think that should really be the life lesson of all super powered individuals, but for Cheetah it was very literal and immediate.

The sacred ritual and sacrifice that imbued her with these powers required a virgin as the sacrifice. Seeing as how Barbara had already shaken some beds by the time she found herself trapped in the magic cave, the transformation didn't exactly go according to plan.

In fact, it turned her human form weak and ailing - meaning her life of crime was on borrowed time as soon as it began. To her credit, she didn't simply accept her fate and go out in a blaze of glory.

She scratched, clawed and was finally presented a means of survival by the same priest who performed the ritual. Her task? Kill Wonder Woman, and gain acceptance from the deity Urzkartaga who granted her the powers in the first place. As you can imagine, she failed at that too.
