007 Fiendish Bond Villain Plans That Were Really Idiotic

005. Trying to Hold the World's Crops Ransom - On Her Majesty's Secret Service

The Plan: Ernst Stavro Blofeld, the only recurring villain of the franchise, has gotten up to quite a bit of naughtiness over the years. He's had multiple plots, (including one that's further down on this list) foiled by James Bond. But now he wants absolution for his crimes. So he poses as the heir to a thought-lost title of nobility, and at the same time has brainwashed a coterie of beautiful women into distributing a biological crop-wrecking agent all over the world. If he doesn't get his amnesty and title, kerplunk go our fruits and veggies. The Idiocy: So... Blofeld went to the trouble of going through extensive plastic surgery in order to make himself look like a legitimate claimant to the title. Maybe he should have just tried to subtly obtain it, rather than resort to international blackmail? It might actually have worked, you know. And on the same token, if you're going to go to the trouble of setting up a plot to threaten the world with destruction for protection, why bother to make up the genealogical business in the first place? Also, how did he plan on sending out all his sleeper agents, when MI6 and, by eventual extension, everyone else knew where he was based and what they looked like?

Dan Schindel loves movies more than you do. He considers it an accomplishment to have survived a year and counting in Los Angeles. Someday, he'll be the greatest critic in the world. He spent a year watching a documentary every day, so now he knows everything.
