003. The Cinematography
Everyone is saying Skyfall is the best-looking Bond film out of all 23 films, and with Roger Deakins as DoP, thats kind of a given. But most people forget just how beautiful the cinematography is in Quantum of Solace. (so and so) captures the south American desert in the most hypnotic way, and the film as a whole has a very distinct visual style that I liked- though admittedly, Ill love the look of Skyfall even more, but thats neither here nor there One standout scene for me is when a cut-and-bruised Bond holds Camille close in the burning hotel room and he shoots the oxygen canister. I just find the way every location is shot intoxicating, especially Siena, which is already beautiful enough without a cinematographers eye being glanced across it. For me, the film works best as a revenge tale told in the context of a travelogue, so each location tells a vital part of the story, and the gorgeous cinematography helps frame the state of both the story and its protagonists to a greater extent than weve really seen before in a Bond Film.
