004. The Villain
I like Bond villains to have a little quirk- Franz Sanchez and his iguana, Le Chiffre weeps blood and has an inhaler, Renard cant feel pain, Alec Trevalyans scarred face, Dr. No has metal hands but the best villains are those who are just normal people (Telly Savalas Blofeld, Mr. Big, Elliot Carver), who may have an ego but are terrifying real and feel like they could exist in our society. Dominic Greene is another worthy addition to the canon. Perhaps its the Napoleon complex, perhaps its his accent, but because hes not a megalomaniac but rather a calculating businessman and is no match for Bond physically, its the pathetic nature of him that makes him so rounded and believable. Hes out for money, and hes very subtle. No genius schemes to take over the world, but he has a very nasty side to him. I love his very understated, unremarkable introduction where he tells Camille of how he injured his piano teacher as a child. Hes essentially just a nasty little man, and it was a nice change from the traditional Bond villain.
