10 2015 Movies You're Already Dying To See

Let's be real about this: 2014 has not been a banner year for movies. The box office has been in a downward spiral all year, with truly depressing numbers, and the actual quality of the films we've seen hasn't exactly given people a lot of good reasons to trek out to the cinema. With the exception of Guardians of the Galaxy, there haven't been too many standout pictures this year. But we can only go forward, so let's look at the positive. 2015 may still be a few months away, but there are already a number of films that are producing a tremendous amount of early buzz. Particularly for some of the science fiction/fantasy entries on this list, anticipation is at a fever pitch several months out. 2015 will see major superhero franchise installments hit theaters, as well as a handful of dramatic films that have been in the works for years and will likely garner some attention from a little gold man named Oscar. Will some of these movies crash and burn, letting us down and leaving us cursing their lost potential? Inevitably. That's how Hollywood works. But we've got numbers on our side, and 2015 looks like it's shaping to make up for 2014's tepid showing at the cinema entirely.

10. Crimson Peak

Guillermo del Toro can do pretty much whatever he wants, but what he really excels at is horror. He's not the sort of horror film director who relies on jump shots and cheap thrills -- his films have this pervasive sense of unease and creepiness. It's not terrifying, per se, there's just this inescapable feeling that something thoroughly unpleasant is about to happen. We see it in his atmospheric film The Orphanage, and we're willing to put money on the fact that we'll get the same vibe in his newest thriller, Crimson Peak. It stars Mia Wasikowska as a recently married young woman who moves into a crumbling manor house in Cumbria (definitely on the short list for eeriest place in Britain), only to discover that there's something not quite right about her mysterious new husband, played by Tom Hiddleston. Burn Gorman, Charlie Hunnam, and Jessica Chastain also star in Crimson Peak, rounding out a particularly accomplished cast.
