The Buzz: Note that the above picture is actually from M. Night Shyamalan's infamous dud After Earth. Forgive us. Will Smith's upcoming sci-fi collaboration with legendary filmmaker Ang Lee should result in the actor's first critical hit since 2012's Men in Black III.

Furthermore, considering that Lee has three directorial efforts to his name with a 95+% approval rating (The Wedding Banquet, Sense and Sensibility and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon), it's clearly no fluke that he's come within spitting distance of a perfect score.

While the high-concept premise - a man (Smith) battling a younger clone of himself - and the presence of Smith will likely see Lee skewing his most mainstream in quite some time, he proved with Life of Pi just how skilfully he can combine heady concepts and stylish brio.
