10 "Final" Entries In Movie Franchises (That Totally Weren't)

4. Star Trek V: The Final Frontier

Friday The 13th The Final Chapter
Paramount

Traveling to the end of the universe to meet God. Discovering the secret brother that Spock never mentioned. Being directed by Captain Kirk himself, William Shatner. The rapidly ageing lead cast...

There were many reasons to believe this was the final entry in the original Star Trek movies series, including the fact that they called it The Final Frontier. It's meant to be conclusive, and it echoes back to the original description of the mission from the TV series: "Space... the Final Frontier..."

Forget all that, though. The guy who directed the best Star Trek movie, The Wrath Of Khan, Nicholas Meyer, returned to the fold, and Star Trek was ready to let him make another one. Forget The Final Frontier, we found some Undiscovered Country out there somewhere!

Star Trek fans should be thankful for that, too. Did anyone want the original cast to have The Final Frontier be the last voyage of the Starship Enterprise?
